You who own pets, do you know all these things about rabies?

Now that more and more people keep pets, it has gradually become an indispensable pleasure in life. However, once they are accidentally scratched and bitten by them, the problem will come, so it becomes necessary to understand the relevant knowledge of rabies.

💥What is rabies
Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by rabies virus invading the central nervous system. It can be infected by humans, domestic animals and wild animals. Because of its clinical manifestations, it is characterized by waterphobia, also known as waterphobia.
Once rabies occurs, its progress is very fast, most of the disease course is 3 to 5 days, rarely more than 10 days, almost 100% mortality. Rabies is mainly caused by the rabies virus in the saliva of the animal invading the human body through the wound of the bite site when the animal bites a human. The animal that injures humans is more common in dogs.

Rabies is currently the infectious disease with the highest fatality rate in the world. However, after years of experiments, it has been proved that although rabies is difficult to treat, it can be prevented by isolating or eliminating the source of infection, cutting off the route of transmission, and protecting susceptible people.

💓How to deal with the wound before vaccination
In addition to judging whether we need a rabies vaccine, we also need to learn to deal with wounds. This can prevent secondary bacterial infections from the wound, as well as promote wound healing and functional recovery.

The first step: to wash the wound. Wash bite and scratch wounds alternately with soapy water or other weak alkaline cleaning agents and running water for at least 15 minutes. Finally, rinse the wound with normal saline to avoid residual soap or other cleaning agents.
The second step: to be disinfected. After thorough washing, use dilute iodophor (0.025%~0.05%), benzalkonium chloride (0.005%~0.01%) and other disinfectants to wipe the inside of the wound. Wound treatment is also of great significance for preventing rabies and avoiding secondary bacterial infections.

Finally, although cats and dogs are cute, accidents are inevitable. If you go out to walk your dog, remember to take the dog leash, play with your pet, and also remember to protect yourself!
